The villas on Lake Como that you must see on a boat tour

Lake Como is famous, among other things, for the fantastic villas that populate its shores. Some villas are internationally famous – Villa Olmo, Villa Carlotta, Villa d’Este. We show you the most hidden ones.

VILLA DEL BALBIANELLO

This historic building stands in Lenno, on the tip of the Lavedo peninsula. This jewel of Lake Como is owned by FAI – the Italian Environmental Fund. (National Heritage)
Its exploration from the waters of the lake allows its imposing and preponderant position to be highlighted.

VILLA SERBELLONI

This villa, owned by the Rockefeller family, is located in Bellagio. It cannot be visited inside, however, a visit from the lake still allows you to admire its beauty and grandeur.

VILLA OLEANDRA

Villa Oleandra is George Clooney’s famous summer residence in Laglio. This historic gem cannot be visited inside. However, it is possible to see the American actor’s important acquisition from outside, directly from the waters of Lake Como.

VILLA LE ROSE

Located in Moltrasio, it was Winston Churchill’s residence at the end of World War II.

VILLA ERBA

It is located in Cernobbio and it is a classic example of lake villa architecture of the period.

VILLA D’ ESTE

Located in Cernobbio it was originally built in the 16th century. Today it is a luxury hotel and the site of major conferences.

VILLA OLMO

It is located in Como and owes its name to an elm tree more than 100 years old, unfortunately no longer present. It hosted Napoleon in 1797 during his first Italian campaign.

VILLA PLINIANA

It is located in Torno and was built in 1577. Over the centuries it has hosted many personalities including Napoleon, Francis Emperor of Austria, soprano Giuditta Pasta, scientist Alessandro Volta, poet Ugo Foscolo, writer Antonio Fogazzaro and many others.

Lake Como villages to see

Private boat tours allow you to see the villages of Lake Como from a different perspective than the  usual one. From the waters of the lake you can admire hidden glimpses not visible from land:
